Prospect Berkshires: My Review of this Stunning Lakeside Property
I absolutely love coming home wowed from a property! Over the years, Iโve stayed everywhere from covered wagons to fancy mountain ranches, and I still get just as excited to come home and share my experiences. If youโve been reading this blog for a while, you already know Iโm the type who doesnโt think twice about driving five or six hours to reach a destination. And honestly, I believe the best things are always found on the back roads!
If you have never been, the area known as the Berkshires is a collection of small towns located in Western Massachusetts, close to the New York State line. Think artsy little towns, farm stands, boutiques and cozy restaurants. Insert Prospect Berkshires, a new to the area boutique hotel that is situated on Prospect Lake. If you are coming from my neck of the woods in Western New York, itโs a five hour drive. If you are coming from the New York City area, itโs around three hours.
When you pull into Prospect, you will park your car and be whisked away by a golf cart to your accommodations. There are no cars allowed to drive on the property!
Some details about Prospect:
Prospect Berkshires offers 49 cabins nestled among the woods overlooking Prospect Lake. The property features a range of accommodations, from spacious 400-square-foot cabins suited for couples or small families to compact โHideawayโ cabins that share communal bathhouses. Each cabin is designed with a minimalist, nature-forward aestheticโthink cedar and pine interiors, large windows with forest and lake views, and an emphasis on tranquility over technology (you wonโt find TVs or phones here). You can expect an extra comfy bed, down duvets, coffee and tea setups, mini-fridges, and Bluetooth speakers in most cabins. Plus, the most amazing robe that you will definitely want to purchase when you leave!!
An average rate for the Hideaway, which is the base level accommodation is around $175 for the night. Keep in mind this is like glamping, so no private bathroom. You would use a shared bath house. The average rate for the Lakeside, which is the top level accommodation is around $650 per night. There are several other options between those two and obviously rates vary during the seasons. You can find information for all of the different cabin types here. Also, if you are looking to bring your fur baby, no worries! There are pet friendly options available.
For context, I had the opportunity to stay in the Lakeside Cabin and absolutely loved it! These are my pictures from the inside of the cabin.
As far as amenities go the list is not short!
Guests can spend an hour unwinding in one of the lakeside or poolside saunas, take a dip in the beautiful seasonal outdoor pool, play a round of tennis or pickleball, paddle across the lake, or simply relax by the fire pits scattered throughout the property. And the best part? All of these amenities are included!
The on-site restaurant, The Cliff House, showcases locally sourced cuisine, complemented by a bar and coffee lounge. I highly suggest grabbing a cocktail and sitting by the lake! My friend and I decided to share so we could try a bunch of different things. Our meal was a 10/10 and the wine and cocktail list is extensive. Reservations are required.
I am confident that you would be perfectly happy spending all of your time at Prospect, but if you feel like venturing out into some of the nearby towns, they have created a full interactive map that you can access here. You can find everything from restaurants to hikes to museums and galleries.
Some of my final thoughts on the property:
- Would I stay here again? ABSOLUTELY
- Yes it is family friendly, but I would say it is more geared towards adults
- Love the outdoor amenities, but in the winter it might be more challenging to spend time outside. You might have to venture out to find activities
- Love having an onsite restaurant, especially one that has excellent food
- I would imagine this property is beautiful year round
- I think to really enjoy the property, a two night stay would be sufficient
- If you would like to experience Prospect, I would be happy to help you book your stay! Leave me a comment or send me an email
- I would like to leave you with a few more pics of the property since I took about 1000
As always, I hope that when I share about these places that you feel inspired to travel somewhere new or explore a new place! There is a beautiful world out there ~
Happy traveling,
Julie
